If you can’t make that some of my work from Jane Austen’s House Museum and Hampshire Cultural Trust will be in Winchester Museum from December 5th (more on that another time)…..or contact me for a PV at my studio another time if you can’t make the weekend 🙏 Hope to see you soon!

One from the other evening…and we’ve had some beautiful ones recently. And so it’s time to turn off the lovely “Georgian- ish blue glass” daylight bulbs, take down the ribbons and call time on #hampshireopenstudios 2018!
An exhausting week for me as I had so many truly interesting – and well informed – visitors to keep me on my toes. A real pleasure to talk with you all and welcome you into my space. Thank you for taking the time to to come and see my work. 🙏
I look forward to renewing my acquaintance with you all in November!
In the few quiet moments during the event I have had a chance to explore sharing my work (with those who couldn’t make it in person) in a virtual way; online and in #timelapse . The time lapses have proved popular – so here is a short clip from a real time video. Which do you prefer?

I’ve ONLY JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS!! Many thanks for selecting me Cass Art! Apologies I’ve not responded sooner – but no one had let me know – but having said that – rather like a late Christmas present 😊

Table top watercolour. Start of the day Tuesday 31st January.
Thinking about the writing table top.
Beginning again with colour mixing, wet in wet, dry brushes, mark making with tools to show the marks! and looking at darkest and lightest tones on the surface in my sketchbook prior to a larger piece. I could do with time to edit images but am anxious to get on with work.
The end of a special first week here in Chawton, where Jane Austen’s house is my base for a unique commission with Hampshire Cultural Trust and the Museum itself. It is a great honour to be in the house as it marks 200 years since Jane Austen’s death.
Posts about this will be few and far between, so we can save the surprise of what I am doing for them!
But many thanks to all at the house and look forward to seeing you again!
Ps I don’t have enough hands for a selfie with my sketchbook!
A small drawing outside the Bun Penny in Lee on Solent this evening. Turns out I can’t Tweet the Bun Penny – they don’t do Twitter. Will they see it on Face Book?
I walked to Art Trail today too; great to see so many businesses hosting a good variety of artists 👍🏼 I recommend you take time to do the same before the event closes on the 9th !
Looking forward to this years Spice Island Art Trail in Old Portsmouth !!!! 9 days to go! – and I managed a quick drawing of my venue when we all met for a planning meeting today. Come along and meet me, and my fellow exhibitors in the Royal Naval and Royal Albrt Yatch Club, in Old Portsmouth and join the free trail to the other two venues too. Hope to see you soon!
Take a look at the website for full event details.
Strimmed dead grass near Daedalus. 30x42cms
Well there seems to be a bit of a theme evolving here; more dead grass!
A longer watercolour sketch today. (20x57cms) A very delicate pattern of bare branches, new leaves and blossom, in the street in Lee on Solent outside St Faiths.
Yesterday I delivered my largest commission so far, (1 metre X 2 metres unframed) home to Wales. A massive thank you from me, to ‘a big supporter of visual artists’. Thank you.
I then started work on something new, but the Welsh weather kept me firmly undercover ☹️
Some really great colours in the mud and silage though 😀
Two more sketches quickly made of our art fair.
