Delighted to receive this photo from a Landscape Artist of the Year viewer today- a photo of my two exhibition pieces in the Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize Exhibition 2018. If you can’t get to Oriel Ynys Môn on Anglesey, maybe you can get to Windsor Castle, where En Plein Air takes place on Saturday? My first time there. Come and say hi!

Had a great trip to #dulwichpicturegallery to see the #Sargent #watercolours #exhibition on Sunday. My favourite? The swimsuit suntanned man on the bed 😍Missed seeing? Any #pomegranate watercolours ☹️#fabulous regardless 👍
#ItsAWrap #Cheers 🥂@hampshire_open_studios in #Fareham 2017. Thanks to all who bought and supported an artist and visited 😍. Great to meet you all and also many of our new neighbours! Already looking forward to my Winter #OpenStudio 25th and 26th November! #DateForYourDiary 👍
All ready for my first day of @hantsopenstudios in #Fareham. Looking forward to meeting everyone….in fact I met a few yesterday (while I was setting up) who arrived early in error….one an amazing lady of 92 who gained her Art BA at the age of 74!Don’t worry if you are a little more ordinary than that – all welcome!
Here’s a shot from a previous visit …I wonder if there will be any time for a quick watercolour later on?
Yesterday I taught my first Watercolour and Ink session in London at The Art Academy. What a fun bunch you were! The day flew. We explored tone and building areas of washes with still life subject matter. And had a small introduction to the work of Richard Diebenkorn.
Here’s another look at the photo of suggested brushes you will need.
If you can’t get to London I will be teaching Art Basics again in Hampshire on Monday! In both groups next week we will be exploring colour.
Well this is where my two worlds collide! Sketching the only Royal Marine memorial in London, which sits directly outside the Mall Galleries….which was my next stop yesterday as I went to see the fabulous RIO exhibition which is currently showing!
Really enjoyed seeing work by Adam Ralston, Maria Rose, Helen Davison, Tom Stevenson, Andrew Farmer, Michael Weller, Haidee-Jo Summers (bought charity cards😉) and Tim Benson…. (wanted to touch the texture of his paint but behaved myself!)
Really excited to be getting to know the work of Julia Hawkins (thinking she might be a reincarnation of several magnificent French impressionists all rolled into one), John Walsom (tug👍🏼), Amanda Coleman (Iced Bun 👌), Helen Lloyd-Elliot, John Dobbs, Sarah Spence (how did she paint those scones without eating them?), Kate Giles, Rosie Copeland, Roger Ferrin, Rosalie Watkins, Aiden Hornby….. So much great stuff and artists to search out on social media platforms and keep me inspired in 2017!
Ps slight technical hitch – pavement too wet to sit down and arm not long enough to take full photo. Many thanks to Mall Galleries front desk team for looking after my sketchbook while it dried!
I’ve been updating my website and I came across this photo – small quick drawings made from the train, developed in oil paint on cereal box cardboard…..a surprisingly nice thing to paint onto. Of course – not a museum quality surface….but unlikely my work will need to last that long….and its free! Note to self – must do more.
I’ve been really enjoying some drawing out and about lately with a very soft pencil. Sometimes it has to be very quick and at other times you get a bit longer. eg when your models are trapped on the plane!
Included are…..St Katherine’s Dock at night, Waterloo Station entrance at rush hour, view from a window at Premier Inn, rear view on the plane and preparatory sketches for larger pieces.
Here’s an action shot for a change! Hello – if you stopped to talk 😊 and thanks to the photographer X
See the results of efforts in my previous posts!
Managed to find a shady spot near the Tower with one of my favourite trees!!
Some time to work in London on a lovely day. Light changing very quickly this morning and a few anatomical errors!! Seem to have set up in a builder’s canteen area!
Here I am again, in beautiful Wellington Square in Chelsea. The weather was somewhat cooler and a few showers made for more of a challenge. Met lots of lovely people again! What a friendly bunch you Chelsea – I’ll post the finished picture for you to see in a few days 😀
Two more sketches quickly made of our art fair.
Last day today. I arrived in time to do a very quick sketch of the great space we are in at Chelsea Town Hall. See you later!
Well here is my little corner at Parallax Art Fair in The Old Town Hall, Chelsea. I was flattered that so many friends made it to the PV last night. Thank you for coming 🙂
Looking forward to meeting lots of visitors today, and some old friends too. Counting down to 11am with a coffee!
I’ve spent today preparing a few old friends and some new friends for our trip to Chelsea Town Hall, Kings Road, for the Parallax Art Fair this weekend.
Looking forward to seeing some real old friends there too, either at the PV or weekend, and meeting some new ones I hope as well!
Remember to get your free tickets http://www.parallaxaf.co/tickets.html for Saturday or Sunday.
RSVP’s for the PV were due today 🙂
See you soon!
Well it’s all admin here! Preparing for the Parallax Art Fair in February and some online applications for competitions. Also yesterday planning and preparing for a lovely commission. I’m itching to get some art made really. When I’m rich I will have someone to do all this for me… I hate this sort of organisation.
Check out the News and Events page on my website for more details about the Art Fair and contact me if I don’t have your details to invite you in person. All visitors need a ticket to attend. I will add a link online soon 🙂
