Glen Coe revisited….with details.

A chance to unpack and photograph! The winds of Glen Coe in the van, seem such a long time ago now which was at the start of my trip north. #oilsketch #glencoe #Scotland #pleinairpainting #panorama #mountain #mountains #details

Towards Staffin after the snow!

One from yesterday ….AFTER the snow adventure- looking towards Staffin. I don’t usually use Gum Arabic much but felt I needed some on theses Scottish landscapes – so I could work more quickly in the cold and wind and drop more colour into wet areas. Luckily and happily I was able get hold of some at Portree in the Aros Community Centre Shop 😊 #isleofskye #Staffin #landscape #watercolour #watercolor @moleskine @winsorandnewton #scotland #sketch #sketchbook #Portree

Landscape Artist of the Year 2018

Ha ha ha!!! How fun! And a genuine treat…finally got the chance to see all three of my artist friends (well done all three!) on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year’s third episode in Loch Fyne! @b.ramsey1973 @mariaroseartist @michaelweller So so so… pleased it wasn’t my choice on the day! All winners in my book. Having been on the programme I know the pressures of the day with its filming interruptions and all the fun too. Really hope you all had fun guys. ❤️ #skyartslandscapeartistoftheyear @skyartsartistoftheyear #pleinair @britpleinair #scotland #lochfyne #inveraray

Some happy Scottish memories back from the framer!

Back from the framer last evening – (well done again Steve) – are these two ink drawings from my sketchbook mounted together; I rather like the double approach which I’ve not done before. They are a gift to some longstanding friends to mark several significant dates in their lives this year, and to thank them for a great time in Scotland last month. ❤️

Sometimes my work is very long in a ‘panoramic landscape direction’. The huge Scots Pine and Douglas Fir trees in Scotland, made for work that is very tall rather than very long.

Spring is a little later there too; daffodils are still emerging 🙂
