Time for a #timelapse Still wet as you can see! We (my students and myself) made small watercolour studies on Saturday @theartacademylondon – Asparagus is a particularly good subject matter where the wetness of the Watercolour can be exploited to carry the colour variations of the paint up the stems. Remember guys “the clue’s in the name – ‘watercolour’! ” My photography needs some refinement…seems to be mostly inverted but you get the idea. Really liking the change in my paint brand, I can see a big difference in the pigment quality; so a big thanks to Royal Talens for this travel set. #watercolour #watercolor @royaltalensuk @royaltalens @moleskine #Asparagus #stilllife #observationalart ##rembrandtwatercolor #rembrandtwatercolour

#Fields #Autumn #WestSussex #trees @sindlesfarm @stanstedpark It’s been an odd time – lots of smaller projects – but here’s two very quick things from the weekend #pleinair #britpleinair #ink #watercolour #shepherdhut
Just a flavour of some recent things in my sketchbook.
In the harbour in Old Portsmouth a swan is sitting some eggs, on a nest built from ropes and plastic rubbish- it rather reminded me of the Midway Atoll work and film, by Chris Jordan. If you haven’t seen it Google it now!
Another great day of weather with my sketchbook.
Took my lunch and paints to Uppark as it was a lovely warm day. Everything is so colourful in the Spring sunlight.
A lovely bright spring morning at Gilkicker Fort in Gosport.
See sale Gallery too.
I had the chance to make two sketch book sketches. It was a warm sunny day but the sun made a great deal of progress between the two drawings, and the shadows moved considerably. The slate windowsill is a complex purple colour.
I had a lovely comment about this which I replied to, but for some reason it’s not appeared here! Confused…….
I had a longer walk with our dogs along the beach at Hill Head and stopped for short drawings along the way.
West beach near Arundel West Sussex.
Yesterday I got out in the very strong wind for a while to draw in Emswoth. It was a very high tide as it’s also full moon. The path I intended to use was flooded right over with moor hens swimming along it.
