#watercolour #sketching #peony #flowers #blooms I bought some marked down peonies in #Tesco again this year….it must be #Summer. These are pale and #scented but I’m looking forward to the lipstick pink ones hitting the shops as they have fabulous centres; I painted them last year.
The weather has been so warm today – and the sun bright and casting long shadows by the time I started these. Then at the last few moments before the sun went down the field became very brightly orange. This is the last very quick watercolour impression of how they seemed to glow against the dark of the field behind.
Just a flavour of some recent things in my sketchbook.
In the harbour in Old Portsmouth a swan is sitting some eggs, on a nest built from ropes and plastic rubbish- it rather reminded me of the Midway Atoll work and film, by Chris Jordan. If you haven’t seen it Google it now!
Another great day of weather with my sketchbook.
Took my lunch and paints to Uppark as it was a lovely warm day. Everything is so colourful in the Spring sunlight.
A lovely bright spring morning at Gilkicker Fort in Gosport.
See sale Gallery too.
I had the chance to make two sketch book sketches. It was a warm sunny day but the sun made a great deal of progress between the two drawings, and the shadows moved considerably. The slate windowsill is a complex purple colour.
I had a lovely comment about this which I replied to, but for some reason it’s not appeared here! Confused…….
