I used the time for under painting – the finished painting will show the house in Spring with the garden in bloom. The weather forecast is better for Wednesday – fingers crossed.
Well it’s all admin here! Preparing for the Parallax Art Fair in February and some online applications for competitions. Also yesterday planning and preparing for a lovely commission. I’m itching to get some art made really. When I’m rich I will have someone to do all this for me… I hate this sort of organisation.
Check out the News and Events page on my website for more details about the Art Fair and contact me if I don’t have your details to invite you in person. All visitors need a ticket to attend. I will add a link online soon 🙂
What a lovely bunch you were today – thank you for visiting and chatting. I enjoyed meeting you all!
Yesterday I was very lucky to see the Sargent exhibition in the National Portrait Gallery. This sketch was much smaller than I had imagined it – only having seen it reproduced in a book. It contained a great deal of sand which must have been incorporated, as it was made on the beach.
I had a great time looking at Sargent’s use of paint, and thoroughly recommend the exhibition if you get the chance.
I have been adjusting the red on this painting, as it didn’t reflect the brightness of the barrier tape in the full sun . I’m not so sure the photo does it justice but both are here to compare.
Today I finished off yesterday’s painting, but the ship had been completely turned round in the night, and now faces Southampton.
Here ‘s one of my very large drawings. This one is HMS Victory and was developed from large on site drawings and is simply ink on paper. Thank you to it’s new owner.
I went to Chichester today. Visited the Pallant House Gallery and saw Piper had used wax crayon on his ink drawings, and visited the Ox Market where there was a fab print exhibition. Bought a new brush in the art shop in town and now I’m trying out both techniques.
Here is a link to an article about my work on HMS Victory this Summer, why not take a peek…..
NB they are having a few issues with my images on some formats eg iPhones, which should be sorted out soon.
Today I have updated my website as I am about to complete my Masters Degree and thought it a good way to mark the occasion. I have reduced the gallery space of previous work and will use a new gallery for a sales space.
Now I need to link it up to some other places so that more people see it.
Big thank you to Chris
