THANK YOU to all my recent new followers AND EXTRA THANKS TO LONGER-STANDING ONES ❤️ here’s a “throw back Thursday post” to show you a bit more of what I’m about and marking my anticipation at the possibility of plein air outdoor ink work soon 🤞as the weather warms up here in the UK. (I find that unless the weather is suitable for drying laundry 🧺 easily outside that it is a waste of effort trying to make outdoor ink or watercolour works on paper. They just dont dry fast enough!) ⬜️⬜️ This one is two full sheets of Saunders Waterford HP paper - so 150cm long in total. I have a homemade folding drawing board that I take along to work outside. This is a size I like for ink panoramas, but isn’t the largest ink I have done outside though. St Cuthbert’s Mill make a larger sheet of paper too 😍 This photo is full of great memories. My first plein air competition. My delight at finding something I wanted to paint on the day! My surprise at actually winning and all the lovely messages that followed. 😊 It was a beautiful hot day and whilst I drew these London Plane trees there was a beautiful scent from a Lime tree too. #pintarrapido #plein_air_life #pal_trees #pal_houses @plein_air_life @winsorandnewton @st_cuthberts_mill @stcuthbertsmillpaper #kingsroadchelsea #kingsroad #TBT #throwbackthursday #thursday #wellingtonsquaregarden

The story of this one!
Started yesterday afternoon....I had the idea to paint the sunlit Spring flowers that I pass on dog walk. When I got there instead of viewing them from the path as I had imagined, I discovered whilst drawing them (I always learn a lot drawing) that they were best viewed from above as there were some fabulous shadows running off down the bank. Then I ran out of sun! Reluctantly I came home and planned to return today. Today - once the sun was in a similar place I went back. I spent 3/4 of the time fighting the voice in my head that said ‘start again’ ‘START AGAIN!’ I am much more of an ‘alla prima’ oil painter ....Then it was time to stop. It’s a bit more expressive. I was interested in the light....The lovely Spring sun may have gone to my head. 😬 Do you think this might be Boris’ crocus ??

In response to Covid-19, we have developed an educational resource, which we hope will support carers in feeling confident to instigate arts activities with those they are caring for. It provides really simple practical advice and ideas of activities which you can adapt and try at home.”
