I had the chance to make two sketch book sketches. It was a warm sunny day but the sun made a great deal of progress between the two drawings, and the shadows moved considerably. The slate windowsill is a complex purple colour. I had a lovely comment about this which I replied to, but

There were some great paintings with red as a key colour in the Singer Sargent exhibition. I was also very taken with the basket work chair, that Robert Lewis Stephenson was painted sitting in. Sargent had really worked to capture the shine and colour with many layers of paint. I need a more yellow

I have been adjusting the red on this painting, as it didn’t reflect the brightness of the barrier tape in the full sun . I’m not so sure the photo does it justice but both are here to compare.
